From Tramin through
the vineyards to Kurtatsch
From the Mindelheim car park in Tramin, walk to the wine road – Neumarkt/Kurtatsch junction and after 30m, turn left onto the Brenntal path. Follow this low-traffic, asphalted road for about 3km. Continue in the direction of the “Millawände” until you reach the sign “Millastiege”. On this path, you reach the wine road before the village of Kurtatsch.
After stopping at the Gasthof Terzer (table reservations recommended, just call 0471 880219), you make your way home along the Kastelaz hiking trail.
Total distance: 8.5km – 220 elevation gain – 2 hr. 15 min.

Hiking in the South of South Tyrol
From Margreid
along the wine trail
to Kurtatsch
From the “Kreuzweg” trail in Margreid, hike to the village centre. From the St. Gertraud square, walk along the Franz-von-Fenner road, following marker 3, and up through vineyards to the turn-off for Entiklar – marker 3A. In Entiklar, hike up the steep road to Penon, turn right at the fork and briefly follow the road to Kurtatsch until the hiking trail – “Grube” wine trail – begins on the right. Hike along this trail to Kurtatsch.
After lunch at the Gasthof Terzer (table reservation recommended, just call 0471 880219), either choose the same path for the way back or hike along the Angela Nikoletti road to the Wine Road until you reach the Kurtatsch winery. There, follow the signs to the railway station until you reach the roundabout. Exit the roundabout in a southerly direction and take the path with little traffic to Margreid.
Total distance: 9km – 230 elevation gain – 3 hr.
